With three games remaining in 2020, the Western Bulldogs have it all to play for.

Fixtures against the West Coast Eagles, Hawthorn and Fremantle will determine whether the Bulldogs play finals for a second year in succession or bow out before the business end of the season.

At an individual level, plenty of Bulldogs are putting together consistent seasons.

Here’s a look at who could be in All Australian discussions if they finish the year strongly.

Marcus Bontempelli

AFL Player Rating: 6th

First-year skipper Marcus Bontempelli is on track for a third All Australian guernsey.

The 24-year-old is putting together another exceptional season, averaging 20.4 clearances, 4.9 tackles and 4.8 clearances per game.

Remarkably, Bontempelli sits in the AFL’s top 20 in multiple categories highlighting both his offensive and defensive impact, including clearances, contested possessions, inside-50s and tackles.

Caleb Daniel

AFL Player Rating: 22nd

According to the AFL Player Ratings system, Caleb Daniel is the best general defender in the game this season.

His elite kicking has also seen a Twitter account established in its honour.

Daniel’s 19.3 disposals per game see him rank in the elite category, while he leads the Bulldogs for kicking efficiency at a phenomenal 81.2 per cent.

Jack Macrae

AFL Player Rating: 25th

After 14 rounds of footy, Jack Macrae is the AFL’s leading possession winner.

The ball magnet has enjoyed another strong season, on the back of his All Australian selection last year.

Macrae has averaged 27 disposals and 4.3 clearances per game and sits equal ninth in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award voting.

Tom Liberatore

AFL Player Rating: 26th

An injury-free run has Tom Liberatore on track to produce arguably his most influential year since 2016.

The 28-year-old missed the first two games of 2020, but hasn’t missed a beat since then, averaging 20.2 disposals and 4.5 clearances per game.

Liberatore ranks 11th in the competition for contested possessions per game and has been a major player in the Bulldogs’ engine room.

Mitch Wallis

AFL Player Rating: 95th

Midfielder-turned-forward Mitch Wallis has enjoyed a fruitful year in his new role.

Wallis leads the Bulldogs’ goal-kicking tally with 20 majors – including a career-best four goal game against Melbourne – and sits among the competition’s top-15 goal-kickers.

He’s hit the scoreboard in 10 of 14 games, making an impact with his strength in the air for a mid-sized forward.
