Seven goals in three games and a career-high four major against the Swans on Sunday might suggest dour defender Dylan Addison has found a new niche up-forward.

Nearly doubling his career goal tally since his return from a broken-jaw three weeks ago, Addison was the Bulldogs' leading goal-kicker against the Swans all the while keeping dangerous Swans defender Rhyce Shaw in check for the majority of the game.

Individual achievements aside, the selfless 24-year-old was however more concerned with the team’s performance, in particular the second half fade out after dominating the opening term of play.

“It was a good first half, the second half got away a little bit and then it is just a matter of, like a lot of guys, putting in that four quarter effort which will help make us a better side,” Addison said.

“We felt we were in the game at half time and the scoreboards show that - it was just disappointing to let it go yet again in the second half.

“We really have got to tighten that up because it is starting to get really frustrating for us as players.”

Addison, who is best known for his ruthlessness in defence, was also highly impressed with the ability of the young pups - in particular Lin Jong, Clay Smith and Mitch Wallis - to attack the contest and take the game on.

“That is what you want out of them, just cracking in and they certainly spark up the older guys when they do that,” he said.

“It is just about us trying to grab them and bring them with us and make sure they do it for four quarters and hopefully we will get a win soon.”
