The Western Bulldogs have finalised their 2016 playing list, after securing three rookie selections at Friday’s AFL rookie draft.
The Club selected West Australian Brad Lynch, Williamstown local Luke Goetz and 200-game player and former Brisbane Lions captain Jed Adcock.
The three recruits join Josh Dunkley, Kieran Collins, Marcus Adams and Bailey Williams who arrived via Tuesday’s national draft and free agent Matthew Suckling, as the Club’s eight off-season additions.
Lynch, a raw half-back flanker/winger from the Swan Districts in West Australia, was the Club’s first selection at pick 11, who Dalrymple says has a lot of upside.
“He’s a really nice user of the ball, a good decision maker and has got some good speed and agility.
“He’ll need some time to adapt to the AFL system but we think we’ll have the processes in place to allow him to do that."
Goetz joins after playing only half the season with the Western Jets in the TAC Cup, having done testing with the Bulldogs during the year.
“His running was outstanding, a good mix of speed and endurance and he’s a really strong character,” Dalrymple said.
“We think he’s going to take some time as most ruckman do but he’s got some really solid fundamentals as a long-term ruckman.”
Adcock had trained with the Club this week ahead of the rookie draft, and promises to add significant experience and leadership to a young group.
“Last year we were a young side and we will be again this year.
“Jed’s leadership and ability to play in different parts of the ground, ability to influence the culture of the place will be really important so we’re happy to have him on board.”
