Out on the football field Jackson Macrae has the confidence to be loud and courageous, to weave and sidestep and take the game on - but when he steps back over that white line, his persona changes.
Unassuming and quiet in day to day life, the 18-year-old was just relieved to hear his name called out in last night’s AFL National Draft.

“Speaking with all the different clubs in the lead up to the draft and tried not to listen to all the different scenarios and stuff or thought my head would explode,” Macrae said.
“Very relieved and very happy to come to a club like the Western Bulldogs and stay in Melbourne - I am very relieved.”
Looking to add polish to the Bulldogs midfield, the Oakleigh Chargers’ recruit believes one of his strengths is getting the best out of both himself and his teammates.
“I think I flip the switch a bit, white line fever I guess,” he said.
“You know, I am not [one of] the loudest blokes off the field but on the field you will probably hear my voice wherever you are in the stadium. I am very loud in the way I play as well.
“I think very team orientated player and someone who is very creative and does a lot with the footy and you know, brings other players into the game…”
Macrae joins four other new faces at Whitten Oval, who will join their teammates for pre-season training next week.
