JUSTIN Sherman and Jordan Roughead have been recalled into the Western Bulldogs' side set to take on West Coast on Saturday as two of seven changes to last week's team.

Sherman will come straight back into the seniors after serving his four-match AFL suspension for racial vilification.

He played two VFL games over the month-long ban, with last weekend a chance for him to rest his body ahead of this week's recall.

Roughead comes into the side for just his fifth game of the year with form concerns and a shoulder issue earlier in the season limiting his senior appearances.

Coach Rodney Eade hinted on Wednesday the Dogs would look at playing two ruckman against tall West Coast duo Dean Cox and Nic Naitanui, with Roughead edging out the more experienced Will Minson.

In the wake of the Dogs' injury crisis that has claimed Adam Cooney (knee), Shaun Higgins (knee) and Nathan Djerrkura (achilles) from last weekend's loss to the Sydney Swans, James Mulligan and Brennan Stack have been recalled.

Robert Murphy also returns after missing last week with groin soreness while Ed Barlow comes in following his three-week layoff following a finger injury that required minor surgery.

Ryan Hargrave is also back in the seniors after returning from foot soreness last week in the VFL reserves.

It will be the 30-year-old's fourth senior game for the season after persistent problems with the foot he had operated on twice over the off-season.

Dylan Addison, Lukas Markovic, Jarrad Grant and Lindsay Gilbee have been omitted.

Dale Morris and Tom Williams have been named despite struggling to train this week owing to a groin concern and general soreness respectively.

Eade said he was hopeful they would play but didn't rule out making further changes closer to the game, with Markovic, Mitch Wallis and Jayden Schofield named as emergencies.

"It was obviously a disappointing performance last week. We were beaten in most areas and to compound the disappointing day, we've encountered a few injuries to some key players," he told Bulldogs TV on Thursday night.

"We've made our team selection now but there are still a couple of players in doubt but we're more than hopeful they'll be able to come up."

Barry Hall has been named despite missing training this week with illness, as has Daniel Cross, who was knocked out against the Swans and subbed out of the game.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have rested Nic Naitanui with general soreness while Josh Kennedy is in hospital with an eye injury.

Tom Swift and debutant Scott Lycett have been selected.
