Key defender Dale Morris made strides in his rehabilitation program over the weekend, lining up for Williamstown’s development squad to play out his first quarter of football since August 2011.

Despite only playing the opening term for Williamstown, Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie believes Morris is on track and will continue to rehabilitate his leg injury and look to build up game time in the coming weeks.

“[Morris] is still progressing back to football and part of that progression was to play a short period this week,” McKenzie said.

“He will continue with his program with the next couple of weeks and we will look play another game soon.”

An unfortunate casualty in the VFL over the weekend was in form rookie Jason Johannisen who sustained a knee injury during Sunday’s hit-out against Werribee.

“[Johannisen’s injury is] disappointing because he has been in really good form,” McKenzie said.

“It was a bit of a scare - we were told initially that it might be an ACL but we are pretty confident that is not the case.

“He is getting scans this afternoon and we will see what the damage is - hopefully it is not too long out.”

After being a late withdrawal from the Bulldogs’ senior side on Saturday, defender Ryan Hargrave will be a likely inclusion when the team line-up is named on Thursday, with McKenzie giving him the all clear.

“[Hargrave] pulled up a bit sore later in the week in his hip but he is fine,” he said.

Both Daniel Giansiracusa and Lukas Markovic will face fitness tests during the week to determine their eligibility for Friday night’s clash against Collingwood.
