The Western Bulldogs today announced the appointment of Jason McCartney to the role of List Manager for season 2012 and beyond.

McCartney played 182 games for Collingwood, Adelaide and North Melbourne in a career that spanned 13 seasons.

Following his retirement in 2003, McCartney was appointed AFL’s youth and high performance coordinator before moving into AIS/AFL program as high performance coach in 2009.

McCartney joins the Western Bulldogs after two seasons as Development Coach with the Fremantle Football Club.

General Manager of Football, James Fantasia said McCartney’s appointment was a major boost for the Club.

“His extensive experience in the AIS program as well as at Fremantle in developing elite young talent combined with his strong understanding of the game and what’s required at the highest level makes him a terrific acquisition to our Club,” he said.

Filling a newly created position at the Club, McCartney said he was looking forward to joining the new-look Bulldogs team.

“It’s an exciting time at the Bulldogs and I’m thrilled to be a part of it.”

“The Club has a promising young list and I’m very much looking forward to working with Brendan (McCartney) , Simon (Dalrymple), James (Fantasia) and other coaches in what in some ways is a new era at the Football Club,” he said.
