Western Bulldogs Captain Brad Johnson has admitted that Friday night’s loss to Geelong has been a hard pill to swallow.
Despite trailing by up to six goals during the game, the Bulldogs fought back against the odds and only fell two points shy of the undefeated Cats.  Johnson had a chance to win the game on the final siren with a difficult shot on a tight angle, but the inspirational skipper just missed and this week he has reflected on those final moments.

“It played a bit on my mind after the game and it is obviously disappointing.  But I cannot afford to dwell on Friday night anymore, we are looking forward to playing Sydney in Canberra this week,” Johnson said.

Senior Coach Rodney Eade singled Johnson out for praise after the game, acknowledging that the skipper has been a significant contributor for the side in 2009.
“I like to think that I contribute every week and like the rest of the team, I still think there is plenty of room for improvement for us in 2009,” Johnson said.

Despite the late miss, Johnson was at his inspirational best against Geelong.  His 26 disposals included ten marks and four goals.  But it was the overall performance from the Western Bulldogs that has given the Captain plenty of reason to be positive heading into the rest of the year.

“We are really looking forward to playing Geelong again, playing a quality side is a great way to test yourself.  We meet them again in Round 21 and I am sure it will be another close contest”.
