WESTERN Bulldogs defender Lindsay Gilbee is determined to play his 150th match this weekend against the Sydney Swans, despite remaining under an injury cloud with a bruised foot.

Gilbee, 27, hurt his foot during the first quarter of the Bulldogs' two-point loss to Geelong on Friday night.

Coach Rodney Eade said there was some doubt over whether Gilbee would be available this weekend.

"I'm pretty confident. It's a bit sore but I'm pretty confident I'll get over the line," Gilbee said on Wednesday.

"I'm maybe 60-40 to play at this stage, so I think I'll be fine.”

Gilbee, who will have a fitness test on Thursday, said the incident that caused the injury was fairly innocuous. He also said weekend reports he had fractured his leg were completely false.

"My foot had nowhere to go. [Jimmy] Bartel slid in to get the ball as I went to kick it off the ground and my ankle had nowhere to go," he said.

"I played the rest of the game. I had a few painkillers but I ended up getting through the game.

"It's just when it cools down when your body feels the little knocks you can't remember, and I certainly felt it after the game.

"We had precautionary scans on the Sunday and it was all clear. It's just a bit of bone bruising and a little bit of ligament damage."

If he is cleared to play, Gilbee will become the 17th player to register 150 games for the Bulldogs.
