Reinvented defensive forward Dylan Addison is eager to replicate last week’s four goal effort as the Western Bulldogs travel down the highway to take on Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Sunday.

Going head to head with the in-form finals contenders is set to be a challenge but Addison believes the game poses as a good opportunity to pit the young Bulldogs midfield against the Cat’s established brigade.

“It’s always a tough task heading out to Geelong to play one of the greatest sides in the modern era,” Addison said.

“Geelong have some terrific form leading into finals — we will need to be at our absolute best this week.

“Our contested ball will continue to be a focus and our younger midfield will be tested against a more experienced, ruthless midfield in Geelong’s. “

After a stand out 47 disposal performance last weekend, Ryan Griffen will be relishing the chance to go head to head with one of the most coveted midfields in the competition.

Meanwhile the persistent work of Matthew Boyd, Clay Smith, Liam Picken and Mitch Wallis winning the contested ball will be put to the test.

Addison’s career best four goals against Sydney sees him continue to find form in the forward line alongside Tory Dickson, Shaun Higgins and Daniel Giansiracusa.

The inclusion of emerging forward Liam Jones will also add some height to the Bulldogs forward stocks after spending a number of weeks playing for VFL affiliate Williamstown to find form.

“Liam Jones comes back into the side and will enjoy the longer ground. His attitude has been terrific at training and will look to make the most of his opportunities,” Addison said.

Jones has kicked nine goals from six games in the VFL this season as well as averaging almost 6 marks per game.
