The Western Bulldogs defensive stocks have been dealt a blow with both Bob Murphy and Dylan Addison set to miss this weekend’s clash against Fremantle.

While Murphy pulled up sore in his hamstring after the main change against Essendon on Saturday night scans today revealed Addison suffered a fractured jaw during the hit-out.

Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie believes Murphy will be out for at least one week while Addison will be restricted to the sidelines for three to four.

“[Murphy] was sore in his hamstring and very tight we decided that it wasn’t worth the risk so we had taken him off,” McKenzie said.

“We have had scans on that and it has cleared him of any acute damage of the hamstring but he is actually sore in his hip as well - he is unlikely to play this week and we will assess him further next week.

“Dylan’s had a fracture of his jaw, so we have had xray’s that have confirmed that this morning and he will miss three or four weeks.”

Meanwhile in the VFL key defender Tom Williams has taken another step in his rehabilitation lining up for Williamstown on Sunday.

Williams required a shoulder reconstruction after injuring himself in the Round 2 NAB Cup hit-out against Carlton earlier this year.

“That is a good result for Tom, he has worked hard on the rehab - he is strong and his shoulders are in good knick and he got through really well,” McKenzie said.
