Welcome Bulldogs fans, it’s time again to catch up with Western Bulldogs Development Coach Chris Maple to get the inside word on our boys in the VFL.  Chris while the Reserves enjoyed a strong win against the Casey Scorpions, the Seniors suffered a disappointing loss.  What did you think of the performance over the weekend?

It was a disappointing result for the Williamstown Seniors leading into a finals campaign. The game was played in very poor, windy conditions out at Casey. Our inaccuracy on goal and the fact that we did not make the most of the wind early in the game by only kicking two goals and seven behinds, came back to haunt the team .

Which Western Bulldogs listed players lined up for the Williamstown Seniors and Reserves last weekend?

Playing for the Seniors were Henry White, Tim Callan, Andrjes Everitt, Wayde Skipper, Guy O’Keefe, Jarrad Boumann, Jordan Roughead, Brennan Stack Jarrad Grant, Easton Wood and Stephen Tiller.
While  Malcolm Lynch, James Mulligan, John Shaw, Ayce Cordy, Cameron Wight, Paul O’Shea, Liam Jones and Chris Ogle all lined up for the Reserves.

Who were the stand out players over the weekend?

In the Seniors Guy O’Keefe  had a very good  game, Wayde Skipper was consistent all day, while Tim Callan, Easton Wood and Jarrad Boumann were very good in defence.
While in the seconds Liam Jones was very consistent all day, Malcolm Lynch showed great speed, Ayce Cordy was very good up forward and in the ruck and John Shaw had a good day in the ruck.

Thankfully both sides got through the game unscathed, which players pushing for selection for the Western Bulldogs this week?

A fantastic performance by the Bulldogs against the Cats means spots will be hard to find.  In saying that Tim Callan, Andrjes Everitt, Brennan Stack, Stephen Tiller, Wayde Sipper, Easton Wood and Guy O’Keefe are all putting plenty of pressure on the AFL side this week.

What was the highlight of the weekend?

All of our players had good games and really got Williamstown back in the game. A highlight of the day was Guy O’Keefe’s third quarter racking up 15 possessions and kicking a goal, while Wayde Skipper nearly single handily won the game in the last quarter. Brennan Stack’s and Jarrad Boumann’s dash out of defence was also very exciting.

That is great to hear, finally now looking ahead, who should we keep our eye on?

Jarrad Boumann is tall defender/forward who has great speed for a tall player. His body is still developing but he is a talent who has improved greatly this year. With another pre-season under his belt he is an exciting prospect for the future.

Well thanks again for taking time out to give us the inside word on our boys in the VFL.  Let’s hope that the Seniors can bounce back next week and the Reserves can continue their good form.  I look forward to catching up with you next week...GO DOGS!
