The Bulldogs have some new best friends after two Bulldogs Friendly Primary Schools showed their support for the red, white and blue this week.

Students at Footscray West Primary School and St Andrew’s Primary School in Werribee were given the chance to meet some of their favourite club personalities after showing their passion for the Bulldogs.

Club mascot Woofer made a surprise visit to St Andrew’s to meet some of the students who won a competition between Bulldogs Friendly Schools to see who could get the most K9 Club sign ups.

More than 160 students signed up for the free kids club, which offers children between the ages of five and 12 with lots of fun and games and the chance to meet new friends. A K9 membership card and invitations to exclusive events are other bonuses associated with signing up to the K9 club.

As a reward for their efforts all 410 students at St Andrew’s received a Western Bulldogs draw string back pack, drink bottle and lunch box, hand delivered by Woofer to the school.

Back at Whitten Oval, Footscray West students made a special visit to training to present captain Brad Johnson with a life size mural showing some of their favourite players in action.

“It’s amazing how much work has gone into this. We’ll have to find somewhere to put it at Whitten Oval,” Johnson said.

The painting included a picture of Johnson with some of his teammates holding the 2008 premiership cup after a big win in the Grand Final at the end of September – hopefully!

“The players enjoy going out to schools and supporting students through our community programs and it’s great to see that they have put the time and effort in to show their support for us as we enter the finals,” he said.

Bulldogs players have been actively involved in the Bulldogs Friendly Schools Program in 2008, making appearances at 33 primary schools and meeting more than 13,000 students in the western region.
