Defender Brian Lake is expected to return to the Western Bulldogs line-up to face the Brisbane Lions on Sunday in the final home and away round of Season 2012.

Lake pulled up sore in his foot ahead of the Bulldogs clash with Geelong yesterday and was subsequently withdrawn from the side. Bulldogs Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie is hopeful however that Lake will be fit for the season ending match.

“Brian pulled up sore but he is looking quite good now so hopefully he will be up and going this week,” McKenzie said.

It is a different story for emerging defender Jason Johannisen who has been ruled out for the season with a calf injury.

“Jason surprisingly pulled up tight in his calf and it looks like he has actually injured that calf muscle so he will be out for the remainder of the year,” said McKenzie

Bulldogs leading goal kicker Daniel Giansiracusa will be another watching from the sidelines this weekend after sustaining a knee injury during Sunday’s match at Simonds Stadium.

“He has injured the knee, we will assess that today and we’ll get some feedback from his scan and will work from there,” McKenzie said.

“So he is in the rehab group as well and we will get him right for the pre-season.”

Another that will spend time in the rehab group in coming weeks will be key forward Liam Jones who has also sustained a hamstring injury.

“Liam has unfortunately done his hamstring and so that rules him out for the rest of the year,” said McKenzie.

“We will rehab that hamstring and hopefully get him ready for the pre-season.”
