The Western Bulldogs can confirm that Senior Assistant Coach Leon Cameron has stepped down from his role with the Club and has accepted a position with Hawthorn.

Cameron was drafted by the Bulldogs at the age of 16 and went on to play 172 games for the Club before being traded to Richmond in 1999.

Following his retirement Cameron joined the Western Bulldogs as an Assistant Coach in 2004.

Since this time Cameron has become an integral part of the Bulldogs Football Department and has played a vital role in the development of the Clubs’ midfield.

General Manager of Football James Fantasia today wished Cameron all the best with his new role.

“While it is disappointing to lose a person of Leon’s calibre, I sincerely wish him all the best.  Leon has been an important member of our coaching staff and he will be sorely missed by everyone at the Club.  We will now begin looking at candidates to fulfil Leon’s role and we will make an announcement in due course,” Fantasia said.
