Congratulations to James Poutney, the inaugural weekly winner of American Tourister’s “State Your Case”.

James’ creative response - which he submitted to westernbulldogs.com.au - saw him win an American Tourister Cube Alpha Suitcase (RRP $320) for simply answering in 100 words or less “Which rookie or recruit has the largest claim to debuting in Round 1?’

S: Strength (of mind)

“Clay Smith has the largest claim to senior selection for Round 1. He shows the courage and commitment required to make it at senior AFL level. He has performed really solidly to date and looks ready made. He has the body to cut it playing against men and a heart the size of a pumpkin.   With what he has shown to date we can look forward to some exciting times ahead from Clay as he gains more experience and shows why Simon Dalrymple chose him as our first round draft pick in last years (sic) draft.”

Wally Keeble
“The Bulldog rookie / recruit to make his senior debut in round one I feel would be Clay Smith , he shows great maturity for his age , he is very tenacious , close checking , good kick and most importantly (sic) very good team player , I feel this young lad will be a long term player for our Western Bulldog club. Thanks  to American Tourister for putting up this offer for the Bulldogs.”

Luke Eddy
“Clay Smith. His attack on the ball in the NAB cup exemplified everything that the new coach is about, winning the contested football as the first priority. He also has very strong legs, a focus of the conditioning staff over summer, and from all reports he was competitive with our leaders like Boyd and Cross in contested possession on the track. He is the future of our midfield and deserves his chance to show how exciting our midfield will be in the coming years.”

Nathan Sparkes
“I state my case that Michael Talia has the largest claim to senior selection for Round 1, he has Bulldog blood running in his veins , and wants to play hard and take the club foward like his grandfather did back in the 50s , at 195cm strong body defender I think he is the best replacement for Tom Williams (out with a injury) and would fit in perfectly with our back line , and help us rebound quickly from defence , GO THE DOGGIES”

Joe Avolino
“Clay Smith is tougher and more resilient than an American Tourister Cube Alfa Suitcase - Thus should bag a senior position in Round 1.”

Shane Mallia
“Tory Dickson. He's got plenty of upside and at the age of 24 he's got the body to withstand the rigours of AFL footy. He kicked 48 goals last year for Bendigo and with the Dogs main goalkicker (Barry Hall) retired the Bulldogs will need to find more avenues to goal and Dickson will help the likes of Giansiracusa, Dalhaus (sic), Higgins and Grant as a mid-small forward. Once Dickson gets a full game during the NAB Cup all Bulldogs fans will see what he's capable of and will be calling for his round 1 inclusion.”
