In a new initiative for westernbulldogs.com.au, we introduce you to a new feature which gives members and supporters the inside word on our boys in the VFL.
This week we catch up with Western Bulldogs Development Coach Chris Maple, who has cast his eye over Williamstown’s 23 point win against Box Hill.

Round 14
Williamstown 11.19 85
Def
Box Hill 9.8 62

Thanks for joining us Chris, were you happy with the performance on the weekend ?
It’s great to be here to talk to our fans about our boys in the VFL.  It was a very solid performance on the weekend, considering it was a hard fought game played in difficult windy conditions. With the game very even at half time, it was a good second half from Williamstown, the third term was especially pleasing with the side kicking six goals in the third term.

Whatever was said at halftime definitely worked, which Western Bulldogs listed players lined up with the Williamstown Seniors/Reserves this weekend?
In the Seniors we had Dylan Addison, Tim Callan, Andrjes Everitt, Easton Wood, Wayde Skipper, Guy O’Keefe, Cam Wight, John Shaw, Brennan Stack Jarrad Grant, and Jarrad Boumann.

And lining up for the Reserves were Malcolm Lynch, Jamason Daniels, Henry White, Chris Ogle and Jordan Roughead.

Who were the standout players this weekend?
In the Seniors Wayde Skipper  had a very good game, dominating the ruck. Tim Callan was hard at the contest all day, Guy O’Keefe continued his good form, and Andrjes Everitt played well.

While in the seconds Henry White, Jordan Roughead and Jamason Daniels all had good games.

Are any of the players pushing for Senior selection at the Western Bulldogs?
All players are pressing for selection which is why it is difficult to get a game at the moment. Tim Callan, Andrjes Everitt, Dylan Addison, Brennan Stack, Guy O’Keefe  and Wayde Skipper are all playing consistently at Williamstown.

Thankfully there were no injuries out of the game, how would you rate the performance of the Western Bulldogs boys?
All players had good games and performed well applying pressure to the players in the Seniors.  A highlight of the day was Jarrad Boumann’s goal on the run into a very strong breeze on the dead side of the ground and Wayde Skippers eighteen team acts.

Looking ahead, who should we keep our eye on?
Easton Wood is an exciting prospect with good pace and power. He played one NAB Cup game this year and is proving to be a very talented defender with a huge vertical leap. The NAB experience for Easton has shown him he needs to improve his decision making to take the next step and become a consistent member of the Senior team.

Thanks for that Chris, we look forward to catching up with you next week.  Keep up the good work!
