Staff at Olex Australia have donated their time to further the knowledge of VCAL students by participating in a work related skills unit for students of Fresh.

The ten week course titled Olex Work Education Program, introduced students to core aspects of the working world, including team-work, goal setting and job seeking skills. A number of Olex staff delivered different workshops including health and safety practices, formal interview sessions and participated in initiatives to enhance students understanding of their potential and the possibilities around them.

According to Olex Australia Internal Communications Coordinator, Joann Calleja the Olex Work Education Program was a success for all concerned. “The participation by our staff and willingness to pass on their experience and expertise to better the students was very rewarding” she said.

15 year old student Dejan Thompson, not only improved his knowledge about careers and presenting for interview, but felt proud of his achievements by participating in the program. “I learnt a lot from the Olex staff and they made me feel comfortable about who I am and where I’m going” he said.

The Program concluded with an end of program celebration at the Olex factory in Tottenham, where students were presented with Certificates of Participation and both participants and presenters enjoyed a scrumptious feast.

Olex Australia Managing Director Andrew Stobart and SpiritWest Services Acting General Manager, Darryl Ferris were on hand to acknowledge the efforts of all concerned.
