The Bulldogs playing group will don black armbands during their Round 1 clash against the West Coast Eagles this Sunday at Etihad Stadium - in remembrance of football icon Jim Stynes and late Bulldogs’ property steward and club stalwart, Eddie Walsh.
The passing of Eddie Walsh - a valued employee and volunteer at the Western Bulldogs for over 70 years - will be honoured after his passing in December.
Beginning his involvement in 1940 as Club Secretary to the Thirds, Eddie most recently filled the role of property steward - the Club’s property room being named in his honour last year.
Eddie will always be remembered as the ultimate team player with his legacy set to live on for generations to come.
From Eddie before his passing:
“We have had good times and we have had bad times but the best time of my involvement is now. We have a successful playing side and our facilities are second to none.
"The players that we have today are a good bunch but some things will never change and you still get the ones who complain about things not being quite right, their jumpers or shorts are just not the perfect fit.
"I am a Bulldog fanatic and will be until I die, all I can see is red, white and blue."
The Bulldogs are also honoured to be a part of the Jim Stynes tribute match to be held at the MCG when the Dogs play Melbourne in Round 4, Sunday the 22nd of April.
