Just prior to the 2009 season kicking off Audrey Sparks was presented with her Western Bulldogs membership courtesy of the “First Bounce” program.
Audrey, an avid supporter of the Western Bulldogs has been following the team for years.
Living in Colac, the distance doesn’t interfere with her attending most if not all matches.
Audrey along with fellow supporters Anne and Amy take a bus all the way from Colac and head to Melbourne for what they know will be a thriller game.
In recent years Audrey has been faced with a tough battle against breast cancer. With her adamant determination she was not going to let this get to her, and in 2005 was able to overcome her cancer battle.
Everything was going well up until August 2008 when Audrey was again fighting against cancer, this time it was terminal lung cancer.
Unfortunately due to her recent time undergoing chemo therapy she was unable to attend the Doggies last few games of 2008. Due to a lot of added expense with the cancer Audrey, being on a pension was struggling to find the resources to renew her membership for 2009.
While Audrey continues with her ongoing battle she is adamant to see the Bulldogs win a premiership cup.
Audrey hopes that her story of surviving breast cancer and continuing the fight with lung cancer will encourage the Western Bulldogs playing group to strive for their dreams in 2009.
The Western Bulldogs offered Audrey a 2009 membership in the hope that she will in the near future see the premiership cup head the Bulldogs way.
