THE Western Bulldogs are superbly placed to have an impact in this year's finals with few injuries and great form heading into Saturday's second qualifying final against Geelong.

The Dogs have regained midfielder Ryan Griffen and ruckman Ben Hudson for the clash, at the expense of the unfortunate Sam Reid and Andrejs Everitt while Tom Williams (foot) is the only Dog on the injury list.

Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia said the club was well placed to have a great finals series.

"It's nice to go in knowing that you've got limited injuries and you've got some form on the board," Fantasia told westernbulldogs.com.au.

"That form is at both levels, because Williamstown finished second on the VFL ladder, and it's good that you've got players vying for spots."

While Griffen is midfield class, Hudson – who will play his 100th this week after being a late withdrawal last week – provides the grunt.

"Huddo's been an integral part of the year, leading our ruck – he's got such a great second-effort, and he puts his body in and around the contest, so he's a huge support in that area," Fantasia said.

"Then you throw in Griff who's just got the leg-speed and the class to be able to add to that potency.

"So that just adds to our midfield, who are up against one of the best midfields around, if not the very best."

Fantasia admitted that Reid and Everitt were unfortunate to be dropped.

"They're extremely unlucky, for a host of reasons," he said.

"One – they both have been showing some good form, and two – as young players, you can benefit so much from the experience.

"But look, it's a great problem to have.

"We feel for both those guys, but at the same time, the players who have been selected know that they've got a job to do, to ensure that they don't let those guys down by not performing."
