Western Bulldogs Patron, Board Member and Sponsor Dr Susan Alberti AO, featured this week on ABC TV’s Talking Heads program. Also the President of JDRF Australia and a member of JDRF's International Board, Dr. Alberti gave an inspiring and emotional interview.

In the informal discussion with host Peter Thompson, Sue opens her heart and discusses her life right from the beginning. It is more than evident to the audience that Sue is one very strong, driven and brave woman, who doesn’t give up when the going gets tough.

Sadly, as the audience learns, Sue has felt more than her share of heartache; but bravely she has managed to turn her heartache into a driving force, to make life more bearable for diabetes sufferers worldwide.

She mentions that beginning at a young age she felt she could do more, and her solid dedication and contribution to charity and also to her beloved Club, the Western Bulldogs has proved she doesn’t go back on her word.

In 2007 Sue was awarded an AO (Officer of the Order of Australia) to recognise her long and outstanding contribution to medical research and charity organisations, obviously a most deserving recipient.

In addition to this, Sue is also a Foundation Director of the Western Bulldogs Forever Foundation, together with Peter Hudson, Eric Barr, Joan Hale and Adrian Misiano.

2009 marks the 4th year of the Forever Foundation’s challenging task of raising funds for the Whitten Oval redevelopment – the most significant project undertaken in the history of the Club.

The Club established the Forever Foundation to raise the funds needed for the bold and strategic initiatives.  Whether it’s rebuilding facilities, acquiring sophisticated training equipment or supporting youth programs to promote football in the Western region, the Foundation is all about the capacity of the Club not only to survive, but to excel.

Once completed, Whitten Oval will be a great community asset providing a real sense of community for all involved.
