Congratulations to Ken Smith who has been named our weekly American Tourister "State Your Case" competition winner.

Despite his value in front of goals, Ken stated a compelling case to keep Lake in the defensive half

Enter this week's edition of American Tourister State Your Case here from 9:00am Thursday 5th April 2012.

"Even though Brian has tremendous value in the forward line, by far his biggest asset is in the backline playing on one of the opposition's most dangerous taller forwards.

His uncanny ability to read the play and make an important spoil or take contested marks under pressure has often quelled attacking moves from many a team.

He then has that vision which allows him to distribute to a teammate in order to create an attacking move. If that option doesn't immediately present itself, he is able to hold up play and wait for the right opportunity."

Simply by stating his case, Ken has won an American Tourister Cube Alfa Suitcase valued at $320.

Thanks to all Bulldogs fans that participated in this week's edition of State Your Case, but honourable mentions to the following people for their submissions.

Melo Kalemkeridis

"They don't just hand out All Australian honours, you are selected as representing the best in the competition, with Brians' (sic) best as a defender unquestionable.   With many forward options at the club, we need to allow our new forward structure to settle in and leave Brian at the back where he has proven himself, where he can marshall (sic) the troops and put a halt to the opposition as well as creating and being part of vital forward attacking thrusts. His value as a mentor to help bring out the best from our younger defenders should also not be underestimated."

Joel Van den Dungen

"Brian Lake is a competitive beast when fully fit so he is the biggest asset at full back. His ability to dominate opponents one on one then create opportunities for his team mates running off half back is what made him an All Australian. I cant (sic) wait to see Brian back to his best this year. Go Doggies."

Darren Viollet

"Full Back.  Brian has a very strong overhead mark and at his best can negate the impact of any of the AFL's best full forwards.  Brian is great at rebounding from defence to set up attacks."

Ken Kennedy

"Full Back the last line of defense (sic). Tough, fast, reliable, experienced and determined. An asset to the younger players in giving direction as to where to be and when. A joy to watch in full flight.GO LAKEY. GO DOGS"

Katherine Boicos

"Brian Lake is great as a forward, but he’s more valuable as a full back because of his ability to set up the play from the last line of defence. In 2010, he was rated as the best full back in the league and that’s hard to come by!"
