Key defender Tom Williams is remaining upbeat while rehabilitating his latest shoulder injury, telling AFL Media’s Catherine Ellis he is aiming to be back out on the park before round 12.

Williams is no stranger to the injury rehabilitation process having had ten operations during his AFL career but his determination and focus have put him in a good frame of mind to tackle the process head on.

“I’ve had three [operations] on my left foot, three on my right, two on my left shoulder, one on my right and one on my stomach… I’ve maybe added the last one just to get the double digits,” Williams joked.

Claiming to have received overwhelming support from around Whitten Oval, Williams was greatly impressed by new Senior Coach Brendan McCartney’s reaction to the injury.

“[Brendan McCartney] came and saw me when I got home from the hospital and just outlined what I can do and how he can help and has been a really big support ,” he said.

“He has really impressed me - as he has everyone else.”

While the Bulldogs fell to the West Coast Eagles last weekend, Williams said his team was looking to bounce back this week against the Crows.

“We are like half of the other teams in the AFL, we are disappointed with the first round but looking to jump on the bandwagon in the second,” he said.
