The 26-year-old missed only one game in 2015, and polled votes in every game bar one.
The win caps off an outstanding season, where he was also named on the All-Australian half-back line and led the competition for intercept marks.
Fellow All-Australian and Club captain Murphy continued his stellar year, taking home the Doug Hawkins medal.
Bontempelli rounded out the top three, presented with the Gary Dempsey medal in his second year of senior football.
I never thought It possible I'd be a Sutton medalist, truly blown away. It still hasn't quite sunk in but very proud and extremely humbled.
