The idea of being a one Club player has always appealed to Will Minson and his recent re-signing with the Western Bulldogs takes him one step closer.
The 28-year-old has recommitted to the kennel until the end of 2016 and the All Australian ruckman could not be happier.
“I think I’ve always wanted to be a one Club player… there aren’t too many players that don’t want to be,” Minson said.
“I love the footy Club, [I’ve] been here from age 17, four days after school finished and looking forward to more.”
Averaging over 39 hitouts per game this season, Minson consistently dominated the ruck dual and relished the added responsibility.
The South Australian is confident his game will continue to improve in 2014 and beyond, refusing to rest on his laurels this pre-season.
“I was certainly very humbled by the achievements last year,” he said.
“I can say at the end of 2013 to be an All Australian ruckman is something I am very proud of and something now I’ll try to do again.
“Everybody has things they can improve on and I am working hard on them and hopefully next year can be a better year again.”
Leading by example for the next generation of Bulldogs, Minson said the Club was making strides towards their goal of becoming a successful and sustainable team.
“We are trying to build a footy club that is sustainable and have long term success and everybody is working towards that,” he said.
“I think we are building a pretty good young group of players who will be capable of achieving that in years to come.”
