Western Bulldogs Development Coach Peter German looks at how each of the Bulldogs listed players fared in Williamstown’s win against Frankston.

Daniel Cross: Crossy played well offensively and defensively and used the ball well. He is still putting everything into his football and he has been really positive about his footy and it has been showing in how he is playing.

Tom Campbell: Tom is really starting to show some improvements in his marking. Tom is really starting to blend his forward play and his ruck play together nicely.

Jake Stringer: He kicked three goals and missed another couple – so he could have easily kicked five. He’s missed a couple of weeks of footy so we expected a bit of rustiness in a few areas but he seemed to be sharp and he took a couple of strong marks.

Daniel Pearce: Pearcey played one of his best games for us this year. He played in a variety of roles, rotating between mid and back. He carried the ball a lot better this week and made some really good decisions with the ball. He defended well and tackled well, so it was a really well rounded game for him this week.

Easton Wood: After his long lay-off and coming back in a few development games, he was good. Right throughout the game he showed the attributes that he’s got, with his speed and strength and power in contested possessions. We would like to think it’s a great game for him to really set himself up for the rest of the year.

Patrick Veszpremi: It was a good game which saw him bounce back from his last game. He was really active up the ground and then got back closer to goals. He kicked one goal and four behinds and another fell short – so he quite possibly could have kicked six or seven goals on the day. That shows his forward play was pretty good.

Nick Lower: Nick only played 29 minutes. He got a heavy knock, in the five minute mark of the second quarter. Up until then he was actually going quite well – he won four or five clearances in the first quarter and had eight or nine possessions.

Ayce Cordy: It wasn’t a great day for tall forwards. He is working really hard and is doing a bit of extra work at training. We are hoping the hard work will be beneficial for the remainder of the year. Because the half a dozen times that he was able to get around the ball and win it at ground level just shows he has the talent.

Mark Austin: Aussie was solid again down back. He really makes his opponent work hard for the ball. I think his past month has been very, very good in his one on one work and even his marking to help win the ball back and setup rebounds.

Fletcher Roberts: He didn’t get a lot of the ball but watching the game back again, we can’t really remember him getting beaten once and that is what a defender should be doing. That is his main role to be able to restrict his opponent and he did that really well. I was really pleased with his his spoiling and some of his marking and his ball use from the back half was really good.

Lukas Markovic: He is probably first to admit that it wasn’t one of his best games. He got caught out a couple of times by his opponent but he did play forward and back, so we gave him a few stints at either end, which is important for his development. It wasn’t one of his best games but just knowing him and his character and what he can bring to the table, I am sure he will bounce back.

Development League

Lin Jong: Jongy started really well and had about 17 possessions in the first half. He was really strong at the ball and played a bit of wing and half back and provided some good rebound as well. He just slowed down a little after half time but still played a pretty solid game.

Alex Greenwood: Greeny played onball and wing, we are trying to develop his game there a little bit on the outside as well. He was in the best players and he won a fair bit of the ball. His game was typified by the last five minutes when his team was down. With his work rate he was able to get the ball forward a couple of times and I think his kick was the one that was marked and goaled on the siren. I think his four quarter game was really strong.
