The bye weekend has the young Bulldogs rejuvenated, but that didn’t stop Coach McCartney taking the team through a physical training session today at Whitten Oval.

Veteran forward Daniel Giansiracusa said the three day weekend was timely ahead of the round 12 clash, and that his teammates would not allow it to halt their recent momentum.

“Time will tell I suppose on Sunday twilight when we go out there but I am sure we will get a pretty hard session out there today in the main session,” Giansiracusa said.

“That will keep the intensity up, we will do a bit of physical stuff and make sure that we are ready.

“I think you could see it more as a positive, freshen up and ready to go and go at Collingwood really hard.”

Another benefit of the week’s respite is the likely availability of Club Captain Matthew Boyd and Adam Cooney who are poised to return against a formidable Collingwood opponent.

“They will have to get through training today and we will see how they go but they are excited about hopefully getting out there on Sunday,” he said.

Giansiracusa said the players seem energized and ready to attack the second half of the season.

“It is both physically and mentally [crucial] I think, to try to get away from footy – even though I watched three games over the weekend,” he joked.

“I think the guys came in bouncing on Tuesday and ready to go for the second half of the season.”
