30 Koori young people from Melbourne’s West involved in the Western Bulldogs’ Nallei-Jerring (Join and Unite) program will form a guard of honour before the round nine St Kilda clash, as part of Indigenous Round celebrations.

The Nallei-Jerring program aims to support Koori youth to stay in school or study by providing them with unique opportunities through the Western Bulldogs and our partner agencies,in line with the Victorian Government’s Wannik Education Strategy.

Bulldogs indigenous trio Brett Goodes, Liam Jones and Koby Stevens are ambassadors for the program, providing mentoring and support for the young people throughout the course of the year.

Indigenous Round provides a platform for the AFL to celebrate the extraordinary contributions Indigenous people have made to our game from Nicky Winmar’s famous stand at Victoria Park, to thousands of fans coming together for the annual “Long Walk to the G”.

The next instalment of the Nallei-Jerring program will be held at Whitten Oval on Friday 7 June 2013, were the young people will learn about cyber safety and conflict resolution from members of the Victoria and Australian Federal Police.
