The Western Bulldogs have bolstered their defensive stocks in this morning’s Rookie Draft, filling their four available spots with a range of defenders.

At pick number five, the Bulldogs took athletic defender Roarke Smith from the Calder Cannons.

At 182cm, Smith also brings pace and an impressive left foot and is known for his close-checking style.

21-year-old defender Jordan Kelly was picked up with the Club’s following selection after being delisted by Hawthorn in October.

Standing at 192cm Kelly brings versatility with the ability to play both tall and small opponents, and provides solid rebound out of defence.

After delisting both players at the end of season 2014, the Bulldogs re-drafted Daniel Pearce and Brett Goodes who will fill the final two spots on the rookie list for 2015.

Goodes comes off the back of an impressive 2014 in the VFL side where he was Club best and fairest and took home the Norm Goss medal in the Bulldogs VFL grand final victory.

Although Pearce’s career has been hampered by injury, the rebounding defender played a promising five games in his debut season in 2012.

The four new additions finalise the Bulldogs list for 2015, with pre-season training now in full swing.
