Shaun Higgins is looking forward to an extended run of football in 2014, after recovering from a foot injury that restricted him to just three games last season.
The 26-year-old’s presence in the Bulldogs side has already made an impact, with coaching staff capitalising on Higgins' poise and precise foot skills in an attacking role across half back.
“Obviously coming back from the foot and that’s been great for the first three games,” Higgins told Channel Seven’s ‘AFL Game Day’ earlier in the week.
“[I’m] really pleased to be out there and enjoying getting a little bit of consistency in my career now – I’m loving it.”
The 112-gamer said there are no remnants of the injury that cut short his 2013 season.
Higgins said he will however continue managing his training load throughout the week to ensure he can run out the full four quarters of matches at peak levels.
“My week’s slightly different to the normal week for the group, only just the volume of the load that I put through my foot – nothing changes in the game,” he said.
“I probably take a couple more days to get going compared to the other guys, and then I normally stay off my foot the day before the game.
“[We] know what we need, so I can go week in week out.”
