Last Friday night the Western Bulldogs tackled Geelong at Etihad Stadium. Taking the lead from the beginning the Bulldogs were strong and managed to hold off Geelong for arguably the Club's best win of the season.

Senior Coach Rodney Eade was pleased with the efforts of Captain Brad Johnson and also spoke of running defender Jarrod Harbrow, who he said has made the most of his opportunities at the Club.

Despite all the talk this year about the Bulldogs lacking a tall forward Eade commented after the game that it will be defensive pressure across the board and an in-form backline that will determine how far the Dogs make it in 2009.
"Defence more than a power forward is going to be the difference in how far we go in the finals series. If we're consistent with our pressure, it gives us a chance."

This week we reach the final round of season 2009, Round 22. The Bulldogs will meet Collingwood this Sunday and as both teams play to secure third position on the ladder it is set to be a game you don't want to miss.

To finish off the home and away season the team will also celebrate the achievements of two of the Clubs key players, Ben Hudson and Matthew Boyd as they both celebrate milestones.

Ruckman, Ben Hudson will play his 100th game of AFL football.  Hudson was originally drafted to the Adelaide Football Club with Pick 58 in the 2003 NAB AFL Draft. In 2008 Hudson found a new home at the Whitten Oval, where his physical approach combined well with an already talented midfield. Since his arrival, Hudson has cemented his spot in the Western Bulldogs side, with fellow ruckman Will Minson.

Also this weekend, talented Western Bulldogs midfielder Matthew Boyd plays his 100th consecutive game of AFL football, an achievement which dates back to Round 16, 2005.  This Sunday, Boyd will become only the seventh active player to have a streak of 100 games or more.

As the season draws to an end we'd like to thank our members once again for your on-going support this year and we look forward to seeing you in the stands for the AFL Toyota Finals Series.

Last Chance to Secure Grand Final Tickets

The Western Bulldogs would like to advise all members and supporters that there are less than 1,000 places left in our Social Club cap of 10,000.  With a significant sales increase after the Team's triumphant win over Brisbane on Saturday night it is anticipated the quota for Social Club Membership allocation will be exhausted by the week's end.

For those who aren't aware, 2009 Western Bulldogs Social Club includes the privilege of guaranteed access to purchase a Grand Final ticket, should the Bulldogs be a competing team (at retail price) as well as entry to the EJ Whitten Social Club held in the Victory Room at Etihad Stadium during all home games. With Social Club cap expected to be reached, this will be the ONLY way Western Bulldogs members can secure a seat should the Team be competing on that last Saturday in September.

With less than 1,000 places available, secure your Social Club membership!
