The class of Ryan Griffen and Adam Cooney will bolster the Bulldogs side against Essendon on Sunday with the two experienced campaigners named in the final team.

After being a late withdrawal last week against the Gold Coast through injury, Griffen will again lead his side out on Sunday.

The explosive pace and run from Cooney will be another welcome addition to the side, after the Brownlow medallist overcame a hamstring injury suffered against Collingwood in Round 13.

Assistant Coach Shannon Grant said the coaches won’t make significant changes to way the team have played recently, but will be mindful of the breadth of talent in the Bombers’ line-up.

“We won’t tinker too much with what we’ve been doing… but they are a quality outfit and they have a lot of good players across different lines,” Grant said.

“So we will have to make sure that we maintain their impact on the game.

“It’s a great test… we will certainly have to be at our best in terms of the balance that we have in our game.”

Mitch Honeychurch and Sam Darley have made way for the pair to return but have both been named emergencies for Sunday’s game after impressing at senior level.

Bulldogs tall Tom Campbell round out the Club’s emergencies against Essendon, as he continues to inch closer to a senior recall.
