15,000 people are expected to stand on the MCG on Saturday in a sign of solidarity in the BCNA’s Field of Women event and a number of Western Bulldogs players’ partners will be among them.

Jasmine Putra (girlfriend of Ryan Griffen), Emily Clemmens (girlfriend of Mitch Wallis) and Hayley Cooney (wife of Adam Cooney) will be showing their support by standing in the sea of pink before the clash against Melbourne.

Each of the three women have a personal connection to breast cancer and believe the Field of Women event should be embraced.

Hayley Cooney told the Herald Sun today that the event was a great way to show support to those currently battling breast cancer, like her husband’s aunt Terri Cooney who was diagnosed recently.

After losing her mother’s best friend, Mary Pranato, to breast cancer nine years ago, Jasmine Putra also told the Sun the event unites people nationwide and is a fitting way to pay tribute to past and present cancer sufferers.

“It’s an incredible event in that it brings together so many people who have been through a similar thing,” Putra said

“It’s a way to honour and pay tribute to our loved ones we have lost and also support those who are still fighting.”

Emily Clemmens, who works as a theatre nurse and has assisted in performing mastectomies, has also seen first-hand how breast cancer can impact both the patient and those around them.

Her best friend’s mother, Claire Dwyer, has also been diagnosed with breast cancer and further emphasises why Emily Clemmens supports the Field of Women event.

“The symbol of the pink lady is iconic, and in order to create it you need a lot of people to take part and stand shoulder to shoulder; it’s an incredibly touching symbol,” Clemmens said.

Tickets to the exclusive Field of Women event are $55 and include a pink poncho to join the sea of pink as well as a ticket to the Western Bulldogs clash against Melbourne that night.
