After a flying 8-2 goal start against the Giants, Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge says his side will have a focus of sustaining that type of effort through to the final siren in Saturday night's clash with Port Adelaide.

Sitting ninth on the ladder, the Bulldogs have lost all but three final terms this season.

"We're a poor last-quarter side there's no doubt about it, we get outscored and haven't finished off games so well," said Beveridge

"It's really difficult to win every quarter these days, but that's our objective from week to week and we can only improve.

"It might be a little late game fatigue from some of the younger guys, but they've got to be tough in the mind.

"Hopefully we're right in it when we get to three-quarter time."

Power spearhead Jay Schultz also looms as a danger, with the forward returning to form with four goals against Melbourne last week.

He stretched the Dogs with eight goals in the corresponding fixture last year, but Beveridge has faith inexperienced key defenders Fletcher Roberts (11 games) and Joel Hamling (one game) are up to the task.

"I thinks Shultz's games indicate he's had some good (midfield) supply, he’s such a dead-eye in front of goal," said Beveridge

"Our young key defenders were terrific for us last week and we're confident they can do it again."

Beveridge conceded Marcus Bontempelli (abductor) and Liam Picken (hamstring) were never really in the frame to make the trip to Adelaide, but their absence will be made easier by the return of forwards Jake Stringer and Stewart Crameri.

The Dogs will blood a fourth debutant for the season with exciting draftee Toby McLean to play his first match after impressive VFL form.

The 19-year-old fought back from missing selection with the Dandenong Stingrays to be best on ground in the Oakleigh Chargers' TAC Cup Grand Final win last year.

"He's a great story actually; he's had some disappointments," said Beveridge.

"He probably has (similar attributes to Jamie Elliot), they're both jumpers and can take a contested mark and hopefully some of that comes out in his game against the Power.

Fellow 2014 NAB AFL Draft acquisition Caleb Daniel is also a chance to debut, making the trip as the travelling emergency.
