We all saw it, and now we have the story behind it.

Jake Stringer broke out a 'bunny ears' celebration after he opened the Dogs' account during Friday night's nail-biting win over North Melbourne.

But there was more to the gesture than a nod to the inaugural Good Friday fixture, rather, it came out of a visit to the Royal Children's Hospital earlier in the week.

"I was at the Royal Children's yesterday, I did a photo for the Herald Sun," he told Triple M.

"I told a little girl that I'd pull it out for her if I kicked a goal, and I was lucky enough to kick the first one

"So I thought I better get it out there (in case) I didn't kick another one."
