Jake Stringer has jumped to second on the Western Bulldogs leader board in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award.

Stringer collected eight votes after his five-goal performance against the Lions on Saturday night and now sits one vote behind captain Bob Murphy.

Luke Beveridge said Stringer continued to grow as a rounded footballer.

“He’s a brilliant footballer, and we want a combination of his brilliance and a reliable component of his game and he’s continually trying to strike a balance there.

“He’s growing all the time as a young player and it was another important night for him.”

Mitch Wallis also collected eight votes from Beveridge and Lions coach Justin Leppitsch after a classy 23-disposal display.

Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe still remains at the top of the leader board despite the Dockers having a bye, while Sydney’s Dan Hannebery remains in second spot.
