Revisit the draft years that brought in the current crop of Bulldogs players, continuing with the year 2002.
WILL MINSON
Undeniably the stand out of the Dogs’ 2002 draft, Will Minson has proven a worthwhile acquisition over his 13 years.
Taken at pick number 20, Minson debuted in round nine 2004 and has played 189 games since.
The ruckman has averaged over 21 hit outs, with a career-best year coming in 2013 where he was named All-Australian ruckman.
Minson recounts his eventful lead up to the 2002 draft.
“I finished school on a Tuesday, went to the Ashes on Thursday and went to schoolies on Friday night down at Victor Harbour.
“I left my tent, my stumps, my esky all at Victor Harbour, drove back to Adelaide Saturday morning to listen to the draft live on the internet, and got the biggest shock of my life when I got picked at number 20.
“I never made it back to schoolies, moved to Melbourne on Monday and was training by Tuesday.”
