Warnie from The Traders, AFL.com.au’s NAB AFL Fantasy experts, will be taking a look at the Bulldogs each week exclusive to westernbulldogs.com.au.
LAST WEEK
The talk of the town is The Bont and there is a reason why Fantasy coaches are trying to get him in! Following a massive 144 points for Marcus Bontempelli (FWD/MID, $447,000) in the last NAB Challenge game, quite a few coaches have jumped on board and enjoyed his opening two rounds of 104 and then 133 against the Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
The Bont’s ownership is approaching 40% and he has increased $55K already with more growth to come due to a breakeven of just 23.
Round two NAB AFL Rising Star nominee, Mitch Honeychurch (FWD, $230,000) enjoyed a good game and deserves his place on our ground over other cheaper players in the forward line. His breakeven is in the negatives (-8) and is projected to rise $28K in round three.
TOP 5 SCORERS V RICHMOND
- 133 – Marcus Bontempelli (FWD/MID, $447,000)
- 109 – Matthew Boyd (MID, $557,000)
- 102 – Luke Dahlhaus (FWD, $518,000)
- 100 – Tory Dickson (FWD, $260,000)
- 96 – Easton Wood (DEF, $343,000)
ON THE RADAR
Apart from The Bont averaging 118.5 points per game, the Bulldogs have two other players averaging over 100 points.
Luke Dahlhaus (FWD, $518,000) played some exciting football last year that saw him push into the midfield. He scored 102 on the weekend to back up from 113 the previous week against the Eagles.
Prior to round six, Fantasy player position upgrade will occur. Matthew Boyd (MID, $557,000) has been playing a lot off half-back and looks set to gain DEF status. You can jump on him as a midfielder now and come round six, slot him into your back line if he gains dual position status. If he can maintain his average of 111, he is a sure thing to be one of the best defenders to have in your Fantasy squad if given a position upgrade.
WHAT’S COMING UP
The Dogs travel to Launceston to take on the Hawks on Sunday. Aurora Stadium is generally a high scoring Fantasy ground and last time the two sides met there, round 19 last year, Robert Murphy top scored with 116. Ball-magnet Jack Macrae posted 102 points and is projected by Fantasy Coach to be the highest scoring player for the Bulldogs in round three.
