A rousing win against Collingwood on Sunday has set the Western Bulldogs up for a big week on the training track, according to ruckman Tom Campbell.
The Bulldogs now look to Essendon on Sunday afternoon and Campbell says the group have been energised by the win and are approaching this week full of enthusiasm.
“It’s been a really positive mood around the club this week.
“We had a great win over Collingwood on the weekend and everyone’s come into the week really excited and looking forward to the next game.”
The Bombers currently sit 14th on the AFL ladder, but Campbell would not discount the challenge his side faced on Sunday.
“I watched Essendon’s game last weekend against Port Adelaide and the game was really quick and it was really high-scoring, so I know that this weekend it’s going to be a tough contest for us.”
Speaking on Tuesday, Campbell said the Dogs had not yet commenced their dissection of the Bombers.
“It was a tough game against Collingwood on the weekend and we look to recover really quickly and move on to the Bombers straight away.
“We haven’t done our opposition stuff yet, that’ll be coming in the next day or so and we’ll move on pretty quickly.”
Campbell has only played the two senior matches this year, but has notched up 60 hit outs from the two matches.
The Dogs’ sole ruckman in both matches, he has been the dominant big man on both occasions, collecting 32 hit outs against Geelong in round 16 and 28 against the Pies on the weekend.
“It took me a long time to break into the side… but in the last couple of weeks I felt like I played my role quite well as the ruckman coming into the side so hopefully I can continue that form in the coming weeks.
“(Bevo) gives all the players great confidence that if you are playing well and you are performing that you will hold your spot in the AFL team, or you’ll come up from the VFL side.”
