After two wins on the trot, Footscray coach Ashley Hansen said his side will continue to focus on their mantra of form, rather than result.

While a slower start to the 2015 season, the Bulldogs have jumped to fourth on the VFL ladder, and would maintain the top four spot with a win against Geelong on Sunday.

Hansen said the aim would be on maintaining team systems rather than on the possibility of a third win in a row

“A win will be a product of how we go about it, in the second half last week there were some really pleasing signs of how we want to play our football as our unit.

“If this continues to grow and the boys develop a strong sense of ownership over their role, the result will look after itself.”

Taking on the Cats at Simonds Stadium, Hansen said he was confident in his side’s ability to handle the tough conditions.

“Geelong had a fantastic win last week against a quality opponent and are always competitive at Simonds.

“We will have to be at our best but I’m confident this will be good enough and the team will relish the challenge on Sunday.”

The Bulldogs will welcome back Brett Goodes after an eight-week layoff with a broken arm, and Hansen said the 31-year-old would be a welcome addition.

“It’s always exciting to welcome back a quality player and leader like Brett Goodes.

“He has been able to keep the conditioning up in his legs during his time out so we are looking forward to seeing his contribution to the side.”

Michael Talia and Lachie Hunter also join Goodes in coming back into the side, returning from the senior side, with Talia named in the forward line to face the Cats.

“Michael certainly showed his flexibility last week against the Gold Coast Suns with an important contribution with two goals.

“We’ll continue to explore opportunities for all our players to fill various roles as it’s important for the strength of the team in the modern game.”
