Footscray Bulldogs coach Ashley Hansen says the VFL side has returned from the Christmas break hungrier for more success in 2015.
After the group returned to training in late November, Hansen has been pleased with progress so far.
“The players have demonstrated a really consistent approach towards their football throughout the summer so far, which is really important.
“This appetite and commitment to build their physical capacities and game knowledge for the 2015 season should generate plenty of confidence.”
Hansen said they had returned from the break with a focus on conditioning, to help the group get through the demands of the season and will slowly increase match simulation and drills in coming weeks.
After spending 2014 as a development coach, Hansen was appointed VFL coach at the end of 2014 and is enjoying his new role.
“I’m really enjoying the opportunity, challenge and rewards of working with a young and motivated group at the moment.”
Although enjoying premiership success in 2014, Hansen said the new year brings new goals.
“2014 was a fantastic achievement for our football club, however it is irrelevant when the new season begins in three months.
“2015 brings with it a different group of players that will face new challenges together and have to create their own success.”
Hansen said he would continue to place importance on developing AFL players as well as providing opportunity for VFL listed players to show their abilities.
