It was a case of missed opportunities for the Bulldogs, as they were left to rue missed opportunities in Saturday’s loss to the Cats.

In a scrappy affair, Luke Dahlhaus was a stand out for the Bulldogs, collecting a career-best 37 disposals to go with seven tackles and one goal.

Dahlhaus said post match that the day didn’t go to plan for the Dogs.

“We didn’t move the ball as we as we wanted, I think we had stints in the game where we were on top but just couldn’t capitalise.

“There was some good stuff and there was some bad stuff so we’ll look at that and hopefully improve.”

With only 19 goals kicked in the match, and seven up to halftime, the low-scoring contest saw both teams struggle to convert periods of dominance on the field, to the scoreboard.

Dahlhaus said despite being in the game throughout the match, his side were ultimately unable to overcome Geelong’s pressure.

“They were good today, they came out to play and we were probably a little bit off.

“Their pressure sent us into a bit of a handball game and manic ball movement. They were very good and unfortunately we couldn’t do it.”

With seven rounds of the home and away season remaining, Dahlhaus said he was confident his side would still learn from Saturday’s game, and take the positives late into the year.

“We’ll look at (everything) during the week and hopefully improve.

“There’s still seven weeks to go so we’ve got plenty of time to improve.”
