Not only will Wednesday night’s Sutton Medallist have their name placed in the Western Bulldogs’ history books, but they will also be the first to receive the newly designed and struck medals for the Club’s best and fairest winner.
Embracing the shield shape of the Club’s new logo launched last September, each of the major medals presented on the night will also feature a distinctive silhouette of the award’s namesake.
As pictured above, the Sutton Medal showcases the trademark fend-off of Bulldogs Legend Charles Sutton, while the Doug Hawkins Medal, for runner-up in the vote count will highlight the dashing silhouette of the wingman and Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame Legend.
The third placed medal for the best and fairest vote count is named in Gary Dempsey’s honour.
The 2015 Sutton Medal will be held at Crown Palladium on Wednesday night (7 October) in front of a record crowd of 1200 people, with the winner of the prestigious award to be named just after 11:00pm.
