Hard-edged midfielder Clay Smith will make his return to football this Saturday, named in Footscrays' side to take on tenth placed Geelong at Victoria University Whitten Oval on Saturday morning.

Smith has spent over 12 months on the sidelines after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in last year's round six AFL clash against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium

It was the third time in Smith's short AFL career that he had required an ACL repair on his right knee.
Smith will be joined by 11 of his AFL-listed teammates in Saturday's clash with the Cats.

The match will also be key forward Tom Boyd's second match back from a shoulder injury.

Footscray sit 4-4 on the season, placed seventh on the VFL ladder.
