The Western Bulldogs will be on the hunt for the Club’s first win at Adelaide Oval when they take on Port Adelaide on Saturday.
The Dogs are yet to win at the venue, but assistant coach Steven King is confident the Dogs are heading in with the right mix of players to take on Port on their home ground.
“We’ve got a really balanced line up, we’ve got a bit of experience back in the team the last couple of weeks which I think will help.
“I think we go over there this week with a team that will suit playing on Adelaide Oval.”
Despite the confidence in his side’s line up, King said the Dogs will be wary of a Port side coming into good form, including a 67-point victory against Collingwood last weekend.
“Their last four weeks have been really solid,” King said.
“They’ve had a couple of good wins on the road and for me I guess looking more at a midfield perspective, they’re looking pretty good around there.
“I think they’ve lifted their intensity inside and they’ve got a very potent forward line and they’re giving their forwards a lot of looks at the moment.
“We know going over there it’s going to be a really competitive hit out and I think it’s going to be a great contest.”
That contest will include a fascinating battle in the middle of the ground, with both sides ranked in the top five for contested possessions.
Despite Port boasting high-profile midfielders including Robbie Gray, Travis Boak and Ollie Wines, King said it’s their depth in the area that will also prove a challenge.
“(Jared) Polec’s back playing great footy, (Brad) Ebert can go through and (Matthew) Broadbent so they run really deep.
“We know they’re of good quality individually, and collectively as a group we know they’ve got some really strong attributes.
“We’ll have a good look at them and just try and bring out our strengths as well.
“It’s important for us that we keep doing that, keep backing our systems and what we want to try and achieve each week and hopefully it holds us in good stead.”
