The Western Bulldogs will take an unchanged team into their clash with St.Kilda this Saturday night at Etihad Stadium.

Assistant coach Rohan Smith said that the match committee were loath to make any changes to the side that defeated Fremantle by 65-points on Sunday, despite big man Tom Campbell being available for selection after recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the Club’s final NAB Challenge match.

Smith said the performances of fellow talls Jordan Roughead and Tom Boyd meant that Campbell would have to wait at least another week before he plays his first game of the 2016 season.

“Tommy Campbell has recovered from his ankle injury, and as we’ve spoken about before, he’s had such a great preseason and he’s put his hand up to come back into the ruck," Smith told westernbulldogs.com.au on Thursday afternoon.

“But we know how well Roughy played, and Tommy Boyd played so well in the ruck on the weekend, and it was really hard to replace them.”

The key defensive posts will again be manned by draftee Marcus Adams and defender Dale Morris, despite Joel Hamling and Fletcher Roberts posting strong VFL performances against Essendon on the weekend.

“Competition for spots is at its highest and that’s when you know you’re in a good spot.

“Players are putting their hand up playing VFL, they want to play AFL footy, and the AFL boys are not giving it up easily.”

Hamling has been named as an emergency alongside Campbell and the recently upgraded rookie Jed Adcock.
