Season in short

Declan Hamilton averaged 19 disposals and four marks at VFL level in season 2016.

Drafted as a half-back/wing, the 182cm Hamilton has spent the majority of his time forward of the centre this season, and in his polish around goal and slick ball use, the Jarman bloodlines are apparent, kicking 16 goals this season.

Yet to play a senior game but will benefit from another pre-season.

Hamilton was taken at pick 39 in the 2014 NAB AFL Draft and was a member of Footscray’s 2016 premiership winning side.

What they said

“There’s been a lot of areas that I’ve worked on and got better in, my ground stuff and my contested stuff has got a lot better and I’m just hoping that the rest of my game continues to develop over the preseason and get set for a really big 2017.

"It was good to be a bit more dangerous around goals.  If I can become that midfielder that can go forward a bit and kick some goals, obviously that’s going to be great for my game.

"[I’ll look to] keep working a bit on my source pressure and a bit on my defensive efforts, which probably takes a bit more time for younger boys to come into the game.  So, continue to work on them and that’ll complement my game really nicely.”
