Lachie Hunter's career-best 44-disposal performance against North Melboure has earned him selection on the interchange bench in the AFL Media Round Six Team of the Week.

The team was headlined by six GWS Giants players following their emphatic win against Hawthorn.

RORY LAIRD (Adelaide) – The Crows' forwards get most of the spotlight but Laird is part of an outstanding defence in Adelaide, and he starts plenty of their attacks from the defensive 50. Had 24 touches and four rebound 50s against the Dockers.

SCOTT THOMPSON (North Melbourne) – Given the tough task of curbing the influence of dynamic Bulldog Jake Stringer, Thompson not only won the battle, but also gathered 26 touches of his own.

BRAD SHEPPARD (West Coast) – Often forced to play on taller opponents, Sheppard gives plenty of drive from defence and provides the Eagles with a great intercept marking option. Racked up 24 touches, seven marks, three rebound 50s and three inside 50s against the Magpies.

HEATH SHAW (Greater Western Sydney) – Drives the standards at GWS both on and off the field, and led by example against the Hawks with 32 disposals and nine rebound 50s.

LACHIE HENDERSON (Geelong) – After a slow start at his new club the former Blue looks to be settling at the Cats, and took 11 marks against Gold Coast.

MATTHEW BROADBENT (Port Adelaide) – Like many Power players this year Broadbent hasn't been in great form, but collected 25 possessions, eight clearances and a huge running goal against Richmond.

LACHIE WHITFIELD (Greater Western Sydney) – A hard-running performance against Hawthorn from the skilful Whitfield, who racked up 28 touches and also finished with two goals.

PATRICK DANGERFIELD (Geelong) – Had a night out at the Cattery and did his Brownlow chances no harm with another 30 disposals and two goals against the Suns.

DALE THOMAS (Carlton) – A vintage 'Daisy' performance against the Bombers saw the former Magpie finish with 31 touches, seven tackles and a goal at the MCG.

JARRAD WAITE (North Melbourne) – Now has 22 goals to sit third in the Coleman Medal race, and his four majors proved the difference in a tight win over the Bulldogs.

NICK RIEWOLDT (St Kilda) – There seems to be no slowing the Saints skipper, who took 14 marks and kicked three goals against the Demons, to go with 24 possessions.

STEVE JOHNSON (Greater Western Sydney) – Another veteran producing some of his best work, the Giant booted five first-half goals against the reigning premiers.

LUKE PARKER (Sydney Swans) – Stood up at a crucial time against the Lions with three goals and nine tackles, as well as 29 touches for the Swans.

LANCE FRANKLIN (Sydney Swans) – Five goals from 19 possessions in the wet made Franklin invaluable and the best forward on the ground in a three-point win in Brisbane.

JESSE HOGAN (Melbourne) – Provided a powerful target and took six marks inside 50, but his brilliant seven-goal effort wasn't enough for the Demons.

KURT TIPPETT (Sydney Swans) – Relished the tough slog at the Gabba and dominated his match-up with Lion Stefan Martin to finish the day with 36 hit-outs, 25 touches and a goal.

STEPHEN CONIGLIO (Greater Western Sydney) – Reduced the effectiveness of Hawks' star Sam Mitchell while also gathering 30 possessions of his own, as well as laying nine tackles.

RORY SLOANE (Adelaide) – Another inspiring game for the hard-working Crow, Sloane had 31 touches and eight tackles against the Dockers.

RORY LOBB (Greater Western Sydney) – The West Aussie is quickly making a name for himself after he took eight contested marks against Hawthorn and also kicked four goals.

MARK LECRAS (West Coast) – Sparked the home side with two brilliant first-quarter goals and finished with three, to go with 27 possessions and five clearances.

DYLAN SHIEL (GWS) – Hawthorn had no answer to Shiel's power running and work around stoppages, with the star picking up 34 disposals and eight clearances.

LACHIE HUNTER (WB) – Worked tirelessly for the Dogs to gather 44 possessions against the Roos at almost 80 per cent disposal efficiency.
