Despite missing the first five games of the season through injury, the unheralded Dickson was again dangerous around goal, kicking forty goals, just two shy of Club leader Jake Stringer.

Grew in importance as the year wore on and found form when it mattered most.  Struggled for accuracy against Hawthorn in the semi final, missing an uncharacteristic three of four shots on goal before responding with bags of four against the Giants in the preliminary final and three from seven kicks in the Grand Final.

More than just a goal kicker, defensive pressure is a key feature of Tory Dickson’s game.

According to Champion Data he commits a pressure act every nine minutes, ranking him third at the Club among players who’ve played 20 games or more.

Will likely benefit from the return of Stewart Crameri to the Bulldogs forward set-up in 2017.

The stat that mattered

Has now won premierships at three different levels. Local (Noble Park), VFL (Footscray 2014), AFL (2016.

What they said

“It was a little bit frustrating at the start.  I had a little bit of an ab issue which continued through the year, so that’s going to be a big focus for me, to try and get myself right for the start of next year.

“Didn’t kick as many goals but I still felt that I contributed, and my work rate and defensive pressure were at a level that was consistent.

“I look back on it and I’m pretty happy with my season, I think I played 20,22 games, and we won a premiership so you can’t complain about that.”
